Speakers: How to choose the right one for your event
There are so many of them out there. Some are fantastic and others just think they are great. In any case, they all have something to say that may be of benefit to you and your participants. Just remember, there is NO speaker out there that will make an impact on EVERYONE! You want to find a speaker that will appeal to most of your audience. Yes, most of it depends on the listener if they are in a right frame of mind at the time of the presentation or training session. If your participant is having a bad day or is just unreceptive to the topic, then there is not much you can do. But if your participant is open minded and receptive to what he/she is hearing, then you will be able to get a better feedback then the one who is unreceptive.
So, how do you choose a speaker or a trainer?
- Speak to their representative and ask questions.
- How long has he/she been speaking.
- Ask for references.
- Is he/she a CSP (certified speakers professional)?
- What are the topics?
- If for training your sales team, is there follow up?
- Is the fee negotiable
- Ask to speak with the speaker
- Listen to their tone, how they communicate with you
- Listen for clarity in their answers
- Listen for assurance in their voice
- Listen to the speed/tempo of their speech
- Listen to the clarity of their speech. Do they clearly enunciate the words or is it kind of hard to understand what they are saying?
- Do they knows their subject well
- What are their demands (if any)
